Chuck Schumer being investigated for ‘threatening Supreme Court justices’

The Department of Justice has opened an investigation into Senator Chuck Schumer for threatening a pair of Supreme Court Justices. Interim D.C. U.S. attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. said he’s looking into Schumer in connection with comments he made about President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

During a pro-abortion rally back in 2020, Schumer took aim at the two justices saying they would “pay the price” if additional curbs on access to abortion were allowed and if they overturned Roe vs Wade, a decision that was handed down two years later.

“I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” Schumer said. ”You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

Martin sent a letter to Schumer saying:

“We take threats against public officials very seriously. I look forward to your cooperation.”

Meanwhile Chief Justice John Roberts made a rare public statement about Schumer’s threats saying:

“Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, but they are also dangerous.”
